Prepping for that important job interview!

Looking at jobs online with City Calling is a pretty awesome way of finding the right one for you; all you need to do it hit up their website and create a profile. City Calling will then find suitable jobs that are tailored to you and your skills and send the relevant roles straight to your inbox. Helpful for many of us who want a simple, effective and fruitful job seeking process.

Once you get that important interview, it's time to get your wardrobe wondrous for work. Usually the dreaded what to wear dilemma always hits me hard, so below I've put together a few fierce, fashion
forward pieces. I was struck with all the gorgeous black and gold overtones around this season, so without further ado let's get you in the right mind-set for bagging that stylishly sought after role!

Accentuate accessories with edge

Black and gold are two of the classiest colours in my opinion. From mid to late summer onwards you can't beat a few Autumnal hints in your workwear. These pieces are all strikingly stand-out, yet slickly smart with a glorified professional edge. Zara & ASOS have got the gold goods for sure.

Mesmerise in monochrome

White and black may be the old school hues for interviews, but if you keep them fresh, tailored, and on just the right side of innovative then you're definitely gonna get you some respect from boss lady! Leather jeans are smart enough to get away with if you pair them with a clean white blazer. Stripes aren't always the kind of print you immediately associate interviews with, but this River Island piece is serious enough to be professionally unique and make the most memorable imprint on the mind.

 Sassy little essentials

Killer essentials that may remain unnoticed during the interview might seem insignificant, but if they make you feel that bit more confident beforehand, then that's still just as important! Nothing's better than having a few moments of calm to jot down notes in a book, and how classily beaut is the Little Gold Book? Love! And don't get me started on the Kat Von D-esque gothic mirror compact...

A UFO landed in my pool!

Crash landed my sweet ass starship into the sweet ass Missguided sale. God, damN! This has to be one of my favourite looks for a long while. I crush regularly on anything cosmic but this dress caught my eye with the UFO, flying saucer, psychedelic vibes that blast a bit harder than my usual stars. The hat caught my eye instantly. Loved the contrast. Went on a long overdue shopping spree to add a few additions to my wardrobe and my stop into Topshop made way for this little beaut too. MILK! Skinnydip London are just killing it with their casual cute this summer. As for my first venture into purple lips, what are your thoughts? I went with MAC. I've always dreamed of a lipstick like this and finally I bit the bullet and bought Violetta. The first addition to what I hope is going to be a make-up box of summer induced bliss. Next stop, Sierra? Sephora!

Hell, imagine having your own spaceship though? Where would you go? What would you do?  I can't even deal with the public anymore. Imagine jet setting off into your coupe and flicking a V to the mere mortals below. I think I'd make pit stops to Starbucks and cruise around the world, seeking out all the tropical, starry sights and the shopping malls with less humans and more floors.

One of my favourite films is the 1989 cult comedy Earth Girls Are Easy. I LOVE Geena Davis and her awesome 80s wardrobe. I'd kill for her LA house, pretty pool and Hollywood hills highlife. Has anyone ever seen the movie? I freakin' love it (way, waaaay too much), I'm talking about this because three aliens crash land their UFO in her pool, hence the title. I'd kill for that too, especially as Jim Carey, Damon Wayans & Jeff Goldblum are the aliens. I'm an 80s girl at heart, trust.

Smartsun UV indicator wristbands: stay sun-safe

Being a true freckle face, I've learnt over the years how serious and detrimental the sun can be to my skin. It's forever vital for me to stay safe in the sun, especially after all those "but I applied tons of suncream, why the hell am I burnt like a barbecue" moments during holidays abroad and (when this country decides to behave), here in the UK. That's why I was intrigued and eager to get involved with Smartsun when they contacted me about their UV indicator wristbands*.

The concept is simple: put the wristband on, apply suncream to yourself as usual and apply it to the band too. When it's time for a top up, the wristbands will change colour as pictured above. After trying mine out on several hot days I found at relevant intervals they changed from the yellow to beige. In all honesty I hadn't quite expected that to happen, it seemed a bit "too good to be true". But true it was! Pretty cool, right? If the wristband hits pink, you're supposed to stay out of the sun for the rest of the day. I didn't hit pink. Phew.  Might have gone well with my pink ombre tips though....

I must say I was really impressed that (unlike a lot of seemingly forward thinking products), this one carried out its claims. There are only several downsides, and only little ones at that. I think perhaps they could be a little cheaper for the quality. They price at £4.99 for a set of 5, which might be a little too steep for those already exasperated at having to buy all the more mundane, necessary evils to shield the sun's glare away. I was expecting those gummy kind of bands but these are thin and flimsy, (think paper chains). A couple of the times when I wore the bands I struggled to get them on without help. Could be a bit tricky if you're venturing out on your own and wanting to try them for the first time.

Overlooking the aforementioned, I wouldn't rule out trying Smartsun again. I'd recommend the wristbands as a sure fire holiday essential, and as I said before, skincare matters. What Smartsun are doing definitely gets a major holiday high five from me (and my freckle face).
