Topshop MOTO sequin Hayden jeans

Purple lips, blue mermaid tips and glittery hips. I'm a mermaid mom jean addict. This pair are MOTO sequin Hayden jeans from Topshop and I have to say Topshop seem to be killing it with their denim game right now. So many jazzy, patchy, sassy pairs of jeans and jackets that are all the bewitching, especially as Halloween is approaching. This Liquor n Poker pair triggered off all the transfixing within me and ever since I've been hooked on all the glimmering denim out there. It's nice to see brands being even more open-minded and out there when it comes to styles and choices, us fashion bloggers need that bit of glimmering shimmer in our lives, right?
When I came down the stairs wearing this for my shoot, Graham's first words were "Spice Girls make a comeback!" 90s hues were definitely in my mind when I put this mermaid combo together and as loyal readers will recognise, Motel Rocks are one of my favourite brands. When I was in search of a stunning spaghetti strappy top, this Fonda crop top in metallic lilac struck perfect purple haze for me and with the glimmering jeans they make a nice little dream team. The Hydrogen heels set off the finishing touch with a jumpstart of jewel. They're from asos (surprise, surprise!) The purple lips? Bluewater finally got a NYX stand in their branch of Boots and I went hella crazy for all the poppin' pretty hues, scooping up all the blue and purple lipsticks as if they were going outta business.
If you're off to the movies anytime soon I whole-heartedly recommend seeing The Girl on the Train. Emily Blunt isn't one of my favourite actresses but I've definitely got a new found respect for her. She gives a powerhouse performance which is totally chilling and touching. You really root for her character in the film and it's haunting and frightening in equal measures. I haven't read the novel but I'm glad the movie made the pitch to America as it seemed to fit better than I'm guessing it would have done had it been set in London. Or go see Bridget Jones's Baby, if you're feeling more upbeat and humorous. Has anyone else missed Bridget as much as me? It feels like we've all waited an eternity for this movie, am I right? It's not quite the same this time round without Hugh Grant, but obviously it's still bloody hilarious and plagued with laughs. Ironic bearded hipsters! Ed Sheeran AKA the guy who works at Starbucks, Balham! Erection Section! Etc. Etc. Etc.

Okay, I know I always say this but I want to try and post more regularly on the blog. I'm writing my book as you know which is taking precedence but blog wise I'm dying to switch up the fashion posts (even though they'll forever by my fave) with a little somethin' somethin' else. Expect more variety soon (ass in gear). There'll be another short story coming to soinspo between Halloween and firework season too, finally another shattered segment of Shea's story revealed....

  1. Wowowow! This is a really cool outfit <3 I love your jeans so much - such stunning sparkles! They really do glimmer :) I haven't seen the movie yet but I read the book fairly recently, so I was a little confused when I saw the trailer and the movie was set in America! I don't mind though :) I love NYX so much, we recently got a stand here too and there's so many lovely products :) ♥♥♥

  2. Oh wow another stunning outfit! The jeans are definitely my favourite! No one can get enough of sparkly jeans! And I love the loose fit of these too ^_^ definitely a Spice Girls vibe is going on here! I haven't been to the cinema for so long, but The Girl on The Train is definitely one I'd like to watch myself too, especially now that the creepy season is coming! I also remember watching the first Bridget Jones movie but I just can't remember the story of it. This one sounds hilarious though :D I'm really looking forward to reading another short story too, I love them so much and I want to find out more about the characters. Can't wait to see more dazzling outfits soon :) xx

  5. Oh my gosh I love this for you! It's exactly like the Spice Girls meet grunge Mermaid.

I still haven't seen the new Bridget Jones, but I will when it comes to Blu-ray. I just hate going to the theatres because it's always too cold in there for me. I guess I am the real baby, haha.

Your personal style is always a treat to check out, and this outfit is so in tune with that. Sequinned jeans? Amazing! ;)

  21. Sophie, you are the epitome of an underwater glittering goddess. Unable to quite come to terms with my affection for those jeans, they give my love for denim a whole new meaning. Also all over that slightly shimmering purple crop matched to perfection with that lip. Like a rock and roll star from the future performing on submarines and space ships alike.
I'm with you on respect for Ms Blunt in the girl on the train, I think her strength allowed the story to unfold well and her character was the only one I could truly empathise with. Have to say I would rate Bridget more highly; ťhe Ed sheeran debacle and just about every newsroom moment had me in hysterics. I too think it's been far too long since I've had the pleasure of her company. I am so looking forward to a short story as well as another nice portion of your book - your way with words never fails to amaze 💖

Ah now I haven't seen Girl On The Train but I did see Bridget Jones. Oh my god, I've never laughed so much at a film in a long time. I really enjoyed it from start to finish & Ed Sheeran's part was one of the funniest! Oh & at the end when she was in labour! (I'll say no more cos.. y'know.. spoilers! haha)

Hope you're having a lovely week babe :) xxxx

  34. Honestly you seem to be able to pull off anything you wear! These look great on you, I love your style and confidence to wear such out there clothes! Really inspires me to get a little bit more creative with my fashion!

I haven't yet seen Girl on The Train but I've read the book and it was honestly the best book I've ever read (well I'm not a huge book reader but now I'm reading more in hope to find something that outshines it) I read the book in 2 days - loved it! I hope the film is just as good - don't want it to ruin what I've already pictured the place and characters like though! So I might give it a miss actually :(

Loving this post anyway - reading this and how well you can write has made me want to get my blog back up and running! I took a brief pause but now I'm ready to get back on track!

    Lots of love

  35. Sophie 'Motel Rocks' need to get their ass in gear and hire you as their model and brand rep! You seriously rock all of their designs like no one else :) Hehe at Graham's reply, guys always have the best comments on fashion. I think that you personally look better than all the spice girls combined! You are like a chic mermaid! These jeans were honestly made for you and sequins make me so happy, especially when they're combined with the beach!

As for your lipstick and hair- wowza! It looks fantastic and I wish that I could pull of quirky lip shades like you. I'm looking forward to the next installation of your book :)

    Love you lots

  36. You look absolutely smashing from head to toe my lovely Sophie; from those fab sunnies to that gorgeous lippie, and I can't even begin to describe how much I love those Mum jeans on you! I spotted them in Topshop a few times as well, and they actually made me think of you - so happy to see you rocking them here on your blog, you absolute stunner!

Thank you for mentioning The Girl on the Train, I've read the book and absolutely loved it, such a good read, and a chilling story. I was planning on movie date night this week, but was thinking about postphoning as Dr. Strange hasn't been released yet in France, but I guess I'll be dragging Mister off to the Girl on the Train. Bridget Jones' baby seems a fun watch as well, but I'm waiting for its dvd release, I'd rather watch it under a blanket with some B&J Cookie Dough hehe.

Have a lovely Sunday eve Sophie!
